Installation

This Trojan drops the following files:

  • %Desktop%\{Operating System} Restore.lnk - shortcut file
  • %Start Menu%\Programs\{Operating System} Restore\Uninstall {Operating System} Restore.lnk - shortcut file
  • %Start Menu%\Programs\{Operating System} Restore\{Operating System} Restore.lnk - shortcut file
  • %System Root%\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\{random} - encrypted component

Upon execution, it reports system infection to the following site:

It displays fake alerts that warn users of disk errors. It also displays fake hard drive scanning results of the affected system. It then asks for users to purchase it once scanning is completed. If users decide to purchase the rogue product, users are directed to the following website asking for sensitive information, such as credit card numbers:
