This worm creates the following folders:

Autostart Technique

This worm adds the following registry entries to enable its automatic execution at every system startup:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\
Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
srtserv = "%System Root%\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\srtserv\{malware file name}.exe"

Other System Modifications

This worm adds the following registry keys:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\
Windows\CurrentVersion\MSrtn

It adds the following registry entries as part of its installation routine:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\
Windows\CurrentVersion\MSrtn
value1 = "{malware file name}.exe"

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\
Windows\CurrentVersion\MSrtn
value2 = "98"

NOTES:
It drops copies of itself in all shared folders. These dropped copies use the names of the folders located on these shared folders for their file names.

Scan your computer with your Trend Micro product to delete files detected as WORM_RIMECUD.Y.
