Trojans, or Trojan horse programs, is a family of malware that carry payloads or other malicious actions that can range from the mildly annoying to the irreparably destructive. They may also modify system settings to automatically execute whenever the infected system starts up. Restoring affected systems may require procedures other than scanning with an antivirus program.
Trojans may arrive as a downloaded file from the Internet. It may also be dropped by other malware, or be unknowingly installed on the affected machine by the user.
