It is not new for spammers to take advantage well-known personalities to gain good publicity and credibility and claim more victims. The ERS team spotted spammed messages that were starred by Dr. Oz. Dr. Mehmet Cengiz Oz, an American-Turkish cardiothoracic surgeon, educator, author, and television personality.

The messages were delivered in a newsletter-like format that advertises weight loss products. They contain URL links that directs to a website offering more weight loss products.
