This Trojan arrives on a system as a file dropped by other malware or as a file downloaded unknowingly by users when visiting malicious sites.

Download Routine

This Trojan saves the files it downloads using the following names:

  • %Windows%\pmart.exe

(Note: %Windows% is the Windows folder, where it usually is C:\Windows on all Windows operating system versions.)

Other Details

This Trojan connects to the following possibly malicious URL:

  • http://199.{BLOCKED}.104.{BLOCKED}:3{BLOCKED}5/pmart.exe

However, as of this writing, the said sites are inaccessible.

NOTES:
The trojan shuts down the machine once the downloaded file is not found.

Step 1

Restart in normal mode and scan your computer with your Trend Micro product for files detected as TROJ64_POWLOAD.A. If the detected files have already been cleaned, deleted, or quarantined by your Trend Micro product, no further step is required. You may opt to simply delete the quarantined files.
