Backdoor Routine
This Backdoor executes the following commands from a remote malicious user:
- Download and execute arbitrary codes
It connects to the following URL(s) to send and receive commands from a remote malicious user:
- https://216.{BLOCKED}.225.{BLOCKED}
However, as of this writing, the said sites are inaccessible.
Rootkit Capabilities
This Backdoor does not have rootkit capabilities.
Other Details
This Backdoor does the following:
- It waits for at least 10 minutes before proceeding to its routine.
- The malware routine terminates if the user is not admin.
It performs DNS requests to the following sites:
- ab{random hex values}.com
- If unable to connect to IP https://216.{BLOCKED}.225.{BLOCKED}, it performs this DNS request to get and connect to the second IP address.
- It uses domain generation algorithm (DGA) for its servers, where {random hex values} is based on the month and year of the system time.
- The secondary IP address is computed based on the returned IP address from this site.
It gathers the following information and reports it to its servers:
- Computer name
- Installed programs and updates
- OS version
- System Type (32-bit or 64-bit)
- Host name
- Domain name
- IP Address
- MAC address
- Running processes
- If user admin
- If process is 64-bit
It does not exploit any vulnerability.

Step 1
Before doing any scans, Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 users must disable System Restore to allow full scanning of their computers.
Step 2
Note that not all files, folders, and registry keys and entries are installed on your computer during this malware's/spyware's/grayware's execution. This may be due to incomplete installation or other operating system conditions. If you do not find the same files/folders/registry information, please proceed to the next step.
Step 3
Identify and terminate files detected as BKDR_CCHACK.A
- Windows Task Manager may not display all running processes. In this case, please use a third-party process viewer, preferably Process Explorer, to terminate the malware/grayware/spyware file. You may download the said tool here.
- If the detected file is displayed in either Windows Task Manager or Process Explorer but you cannot delete it, restart your computer in safe mode. To do this, refer to this link for the complete steps.
