Installation

This Trojan drops the following component file(s):

  • %System Root%\A.exe - Detected as TSPY_INJECT.A

(Note: %System Root% is the root folder, which is usually C:\. It is also where the operating system is located.)

It drops the following non-malicious file:

  • %System Root%\a.pdf

(Note: %System Root% is the root folder, which is usually C:\. It is also where the operating system is located.)

Dropping Routine

This Trojan takes advantage of the following software vulnerabilities to drop malicious files:

It executes the dropped file(s). As a result, malicious routines of the dropped files are exhibited on the affected system.

NOTES:
It opens the file A.PDF to trick users into thinking that it is a normal .PDF file.

Step 1

Before doing any scans, Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 users must disable System Restore to allow full scanning of their computers.

Step 2

Remove malware/grayware files dropped/downloaded by TROJ_PIDIEF.LID

Step 3

Search and delete these files
