This is the Trend Micro detection for specially crafted .LNK files that are used to execute dropped copies of the malware, WORM_NGRBOT.AZ once a shortcut is accessed.

The target property of the .LNK file contains the following format:

  • %System%\cmd.exe /k {Drive Letter}:\svhost.exe Open {Drive Letter}:\{{user name}-egregregerfwde}\{user's original file}

It executes both the malware WORM_NGRBOT.AZ and the original non-malicious file to trick users into thinking that the file executed is a legitimate file. As a result, the routines of the main file are exhibited on the affected system.
