From risk to resilience … to Leeds
Trend Micro is not a company that does things by halves. In April, we embarked on the world’s largest and longest-running cybersecurity roadshow. Five months, several continents and over 100 cities later we finally arrived in Leeds this month and it didn’t disappoint.

From people to strategy
The message of “risk to resilience” permeated the entire day-long event. In a standout presentation, “People Hacker” Jenny Radcliffe impressed upon us the importance of hardening organisations against human-shaped risk. She provided some fascinating insight into the psychology behind social engineering and offered useful strategies for identifying and mitigating hidden employee risks, at a time when threat actors are targeting staff members with growing success.
As always, UK & Ireland Technical Director, Bharat Mistry, was calm, clear and concise—in describing the continued evolution of the threat landscape and what organisations can do to build an effective security strategy in a world defined by uncertainty. His expertise and experience shone through on stage.
We were also treated to a panel discussion featuring industry experts from King's College London, Unilever and Pets at Home. It was fantastically useful getting insight into security strategy from a customer perspective—as attested to by the number of heads nodding in agreement throughout the audience.
Time to talk
Most importantly, there was ample time for everyone at the event to catch up informally, between sessions and during the drinks reception and dinner at the Hilton Sky Lounge. From a Trend perspective, this is a great time to get honest feedback on what we’re doing right and where customers still have pain points. And from the animated conversations I saw, it was clearly that all involved maximised their opportunity to network, share war stories and learn a little from their friends, colleagues and peers.
We’ve come a long way since the first Risk to Resilience events in Singapore and Recife. But the message remains the same: cyber risk is a critical business risk and must be addressed as such. Even against a backdrop of skills shortages, expanding attack surfaces and determined adversaries, resilience can be achieved with the right mindset and posture.
