Cyber Crime
Building AWS skills to win for Trend and our closest partners
Trend Micro is nothing without its partners. And in a fast-evolving space like cyber, one of the best ways we can add value to those relationships is by ensuring employees in key areas have the knowledge and expertise to do the best job they can.
Trend Micro is nothing without its partners. And in a fast-evolving space like cyber, one of the best ways we can add value to those relationships is by ensuring employees in key areas have the knowledge and expertise to do the best job they can. That’s why Trend encouraged me to take the AWS Cloud Practitioner Foundational course.
It’s been a challenging but highly recommended experience.
As a Channel Account Manager, I manage the largest technology reseller in the UK: Softcat. As a point of contact for training, escalations, opportunities and everything else in between, I’m always in demand at the firm’s 10 UK offices. It’s a challenge I‘ve really grown into: meeting new people, finding new deals and watching account managers bring them to life.
As a passionate Trender, I want Softcat to succeed as much as we do—helping both parties get that win and grow their respective businesses. It’s all the motivation I need to keep pushing each year.
Make or break
AWS is obviously a massive part of my world. It’s a company I’ve got a huge amount of respect for and am witnessing first hand the impact it can have on business transformation. As organisations increasingly gravitate towards the cloud, it made sense to understand more about what the AWS Marketplace has to offer. Trend winning AWS Partner of the Year globally and Softcat winning the EMEA version of the award didn’t hurt either.
The AWS Cloud Practitioner Foundational course is certainly challenging, especially if you don’t like exams. However, there’s an extensive variety of different learning materials to support students. It’s all about how much effort you’re willing to put in.
I learned how the Marketplace works, and what the benefits are to customers, partners and Trend. It really helped me understand why customers want to choose this route to market, and gave me practical skills to help ensure they have the correct quoting, billing and private offer. It’s also been a great way to understand how we can move customers from a public to a private offer, and ultimately bring more revenue through the UK business.
I’d thoroughly recommend the course to colleagues who want to understand more about the Marketplace when recommending it to customers and prospects. It could be the making or breaking of a deal.
