Cyber Crime
Teaming up with FGS to engage with the online gaming market
The UK’s online gaming and betting sector is a multibillion-pound industry. And where there is money to steal and companies and players to steal it off, cyber-criminals won’t be far away. It’s the same across the globe.
The UK’s online gaming and betting sector is a multibillion-pound industry. And where there is money to steal and companies and players to steal it off, cyber-criminals won’t be far away. It’s the same across the globe.
That’s why it was great to network and share Trend Micro expertise with dozens of leaders from the sector at a recent event in Malta hosted by reseller FGS.
Digital growth means digital threats
An increasingly large slice of revenue in gaming and betting comes from online activity. But like many of their peers in other sectors, these firms are not only looking to digital technologies to enhance the customer experience. They’re also driving hybrid working projects and seeking to improve business efficiencies. The bottom line is that these activities can combine to unwittingly expand the corporate attack surface and make organisations more exposed to cyber risk.
Customer identity theft, account takeovers, ransomware, DDoS, threats to game integrity and money laundering can all exact a damaging financial and reputational toll on the sector. And security can’t afford to interrupt back-end innovation or customer experience projects, as competition between companies is fierce. Trend Micro has already helped customers like Playtech to successfully manage these challenges.
Building awareness
So it was fantastic being able to share this story with C-Level, security, risk and compliance leaders in the sector at a recent FGS-hosted event in Malta. It was a great opportunity to get to know them and their challenges and concerns around cyber risk. And ultimately, it was a rewarding evening being able to build Trend Micro brand awareness and knowledge of our platform.
FGS CEO, Peter Stound had this to say:
“Joining forces with Trend Micro has made a real difference to our offering, it’s a partnership that is both productive and enjoyable. The knowledge, passion and energy that is flowing both ways have been inspirational. In addition, the support we have received for the FGS events has been above and beyond. Really looking forward to rising to the next level together.”
We’re also looking forward to the next events, and helping new gaming and betting customers solve their critical cybersecurity challenges.
