NOTES:
This malware locates the following registry keys:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft Antimalware\Exclusions\Paths
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Defender\Exclusions\Paths
If found, it adds the following registry value to exclude its dropped copy every time an antivirus performs a scan:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft Antimalware\
Exclusions\Paths
%System%\{string1 + string2}.exe = "0"
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Defender\
Exclusions\Paths
%System%\{random file name}.exe = "0"
It terminates itself if found running under a virtual machine or sandbox by checking the following strings:
- vbox
- qemu
- vmware
- virtual hd
It deletes the Zone.Identifier NTFS stream to remove the downloaded files history.
