  • %Temp%\adobeacd-update.bat
  • %Temp%\adobeacd-update.vbs
  • %Temp%\444.exe - deleted after execution

(Note: %Temp% is the Windows temporary folder, where it usually is C:\Windows\Temp on all Windows operating system versions.)

Download Routine

This Trojan accesses the following websites to download files:

  • http://{BLOCKED}.{BLOCKED}.31.9/work.exe

It saves the files it downloads using the following names:

  • %Temp%\444.exe - detected as TROJ_ROVNIX.NGT

(Note: %Temp% is the Windows temporary folder, where it usually is C:\Windows\Temp on all Windows operating system versions.)

It then executes the downloaded files. As a result, malicious routines of the downloaded files are exhibited on the affected system.

Step 1

Before doing any scans, Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 users must disable System Restore to allow full scanning of their computers.

Step 2

Remove the malware/grayware file that dropped/downloaded TROJ_POWDLOD.GN. (Note: Please skip this step if the threat(s) listed below have already been removed.)

Step 3

Remove malware/grayware files dropped/downloaded by TROJ_POWDLOD.GN. (Note: Please skip this step if the threats listed below have already been removed.)
