(MS11-044) Vulnerability in .NET Framework Could Allow Remote Code Execution (2538814)
Publish date: June 16, 2011
Severity: CRITICAL
CVE Identifier: CVE-2011-1271
Advisory Date: JUN 16, 2011
DESCRIPTION
A vulnerability in Microsoft .NET Framework could allow remote code execution on a computer if its user views a malicious Web page using a browser that can run XAML Browser Applications (XBAPs). Administrator user accounts are more at risk of this vulnerability than user accounts with lesser rights. The vulnerability could also allow remote code execution on a server system running IIS, if the server allows processing ASP.NET pages. If an attacker successfully uploads a malicious ASP.NET page to that server and then executes the page, as in a Web hosting scenario. Windows .NET applications can use this vulnerability to bypass Code Access Security (CAS) restrictions.
TREND MICRO PROTECTION INFORMATION
Trend Micro Deep Security shields networks through Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) rules. Trend Micro customers using OfficeScan with Intrusion Defense Firewall (IDF) plugin are also protected from attacks using these vulnerabilities. Please refer to the filter number and filter name when applying appropriate DPI and/or IDF rules.
