  OVERVIEW

This worm arrives as attachment to mass-mailed email messages. It arrives on a system as a file dropped by other malware or as a file downloaded unknowingly by users when visiting malicious sites.

It uses Windows Task Scheduler to create a scheduled task that executes the dropped copy.

It propagates via shared networks and drops copies of itself into available networks.

This worm drops the following copies of itself into the affected system:

  • %Windows%\WINZIP_TMP.exe

  • %System%\Update.exe
  • %System%\Winzip.exe

(Note: %System Root% is the root folder, which is usually C:\. It is also where the operating system is located.. %Windows% is the Windows folder, which is usually C:\Windows or C:\WINNT.. %System% is the Windows system folder, which is usually C:\Windows\System on Windows 98 and ME, C:\WINNT\System32 on Windows NT and 2000, or C:\Windows\System32 on Windows XP and Server 2003.)

It drops the following files:

  • %System%\{malware name}.zip
  • %System%\MSWINSCK.OCX
