This spyware attempts to retrieve stored information such as user names, passwords, and hostnames from certain browsers.
It also attempts to steal stored account information for certain installed FTP clients or File Managers.
It sends the gathered information using HTTP post to certain malicious websites.
This spyware arrives on a system as a file dropped by other malware or as a file downloaded unknowingly by users when visiting malicious sites.
It does not have any propagation routine.

It gathers the following account information from any of the aforementioned FTP clients or File Managers:
- Password
- Port Number
- Server Name
- User Name
It saves the gathered inforamtion in the following file:
- %User Temp%\Client Hash
(Note: %User Temp% is the current user's Temp folder, which is usually C:\Documents and Settings\{user name}\Local Settings\Temp on Windows 2000, XP, and Server 2003.)
It sends the gathered information using HTTP post to any of the following URLs:
- http://{BLOCKED}date.in/all/gate.php
- http://{BLOCKED}date.in/all/old.php
However, as of this writing, the said sites are inaccessible.

SOLUTION
Step 1
For Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 users, before doing any scans, please make sure you disable System Restore to allow full scanning of your computer.
Step 2
Scan your computer with your Trend Micro product and note files detected as TSPY_FAREIT.AT
Step 3
Restart in Safe Mode
Step 4
Search and delete the file detected as TSPY_FAREIT.AT
Step 5
Search and delete this file
- %User Temp%\Client Hash
Step 6
Restart in normal mode and scan your computer with your Trend Micro product for files detected as TSPY_FAREIT.AT. If the detected files have already been cleaned, deleted, or quarantined by your Trend Micro product, no further step is required. You may opt to simply delete the quarantined files.
