This Trojan arrives on a system as a file dropped by other malware or as a file downloaded unknowingly by users when visiting malicious sites.
It connects to certain websites to send and receive information.

This Trojan arrives on a system as a file dropped by other malware or as a file downloaded unknowingly by users when visiting malicious sites.
Installation
This Trojan drops the following copies of itself into the affected system:
- %System Root%\Documents and Settings\All Users\Local Settings\Temp\{random}.exe
(Note: %System Root% is the root folder, which is usually C:\. It is also where the operating system is located.)
Autostart Technique
This Trojan adds the following registry entries to enable its automatic execution at every system startup:

Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\
Explorer\Run
55011 = "%System Root%\Documents and Settings\All Users\Local Settings\Temp\{random}.exe"

This Trojan connects to the following website to send and receive information:
- http://www.{BLOCKED}s.net/foro/image.php
- http://www.{BLOCKED}1e.net/foro/image.php
- http://www.{BLOCKED}ell.net/foro/image.php
- http://www.{BLOCKED}dman.net/foro/image.php
NOTES:
Depending on the server's reply, it may download files from other sites such as:
- http://www.{BLOCKED}rvices.com/byxyxy.exe - detected by Trend Micro as TSPY_SPYEYE.SIE
- http://www.{BLOCKED}ervices.com/readmex.txt - corrupted file
It then executes the downloaded file, thus the malicious routines of the malware are also exhibited in the system.
SOLUTION
Step 1
For Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 users, before doing any scans, please make sure you disable System Restore to allow full scanning of your computer.
Step 2
Remove malware files dropped/downloaded by TROJ_YAKES.KIV
- TSPY_SPYEYE.SIE
Step 3
Restart in Safe Mode
Step 4
Delete this registry value

Step 5
Restart in normal mode and scan your computer with your Trend Micro product for files detected as TROJ_YAKES.KIV. If the detected files have already been cleaned, deleted, or quarantined by your Trend Micro product, no further step is required. You may opt to simply delete the quarantined files.
