This Trojan drops the following copies of itself into the affected system:
- %System Root%\RECYCLER\S-1-5-18\{random}\n
- %System Root%\$Recycle.Bin\S-1-5-18\{random}\n
(Note: %System Root% is the root folder, which is usually C:\. It is also where the operating system is located.)

This Trojan requires the existence of the following files to properly run:

- %System Root%\RECYCLER\S-1-5-18\{random value}\@

SOLUTION
Step 1
Before doing any scans, Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 users must disable System Restore to allow full scanning of their computers.
Step 2
Search and delete these files

- Ͽstem RootϿ$Recycle.Bin\S-1-5-18\${GUID}\U\80000032.@
- Ͽstem RootϿRECYCLER\S-1-5-21-{random GUID}\${random value}\@

Step 3
Scan your computer with your Trend Micro product to delete files detected as TROJ_SIREFEF.AFP. If the detected files have already been cleaned, deleted, or quarantined by your Trend Micro product, no further step is required. You may opt to simply delete the quarantined files.
