OVERVIEW
This Trojan takes advantage of a known vulnerability in Adobe Reader and Acrobat version 9.x before 9.4 and 8.x before 8.2.5.
It executes the files it drops, prompting the affected system to exhibit the malicious routines they contain.
This Trojan arrives as attachment to mass-mailed email messages. It may be downloaded by other malware/grayware/spyware from remote sites.

Installation
This Trojan drops the following files:
- %current%\iso88591 - non-executable file that contains shellcode
- %UserTemp%\Adobe-.pdf - non malicious PDF file

This Trojan takes advantage of the following software vulnerabilities to drop malicious files:
- CVE-2010-2883
It drops the following files:
- %Program Files%\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\update.exe - detected by Trend Micro as TROJ_DROPPR.FA
(Note: %Program Files% is the default Program Files folder, usually C:\Program Files.)

SOLUTION
Step 1
For Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 users, before doing any scans, please make sure you disable System Restore to allow full scanning of your computer.

Search and delete this file
Step 4
Scan your computer with your Trend Micro product to delete files detected as TROJ_PIDIEF.OB. If the detected files have already been cleaned, deleted, or quarantined by your Trend Micro product, no further step is required. You may opt to simply delete the quarantined files.
