This is a malicious .PDF document that exploits a certain vulnerability in Adobe Flash Player and Authplay.dll in Adobe Reader 9.x and 10.x via a specially-crafted flash content. If the exploit is successful, it drops a certain file.

This is a malicious .PDF document that exploits a certain vulnerability in Adobe Flash Player and Authplay.dll in Adobe Reader 9.x and 10.x via a specially-crafted flash content. If the exploit is successful, it drops the following file:

  • %User Temp%\AdobeARM.dll

This is detected by Trend Micro as BKDR_LBAB.OY. It then executes the said malware. As a result, the malicious routines of the file are also exhibited in the system.

Step 1

For Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 users, before doing any scans, please make sure you disable System Restore to allow full scanning of your computer.

Step 3

Scan your computer with your Trend Micro product to delete files detected as TROJ_PIDIEF.APU.
