Installation
This Trojan drops and executes the following files:
- %User Temp%\explorer.exe - non-malicious file
(Note: %User Temp% is the current user's Temp folder, which is usually C:\Documents and Settings\{user name}\Local Settings\Temp on Windows 2000, XP, and Server 2003.)
Other Details
This Trojan does the following:
- It queries if the following registry is present on the affected system:
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\360Safe\safemon
- If so, it adds the following entries under the said key:
- IEProtAccess = 0
- IEProtNotify = 0
- It also executes the legitimate file %Windows%\explorer.exe upon execution.
(Note: %Windows% is the Windows folder, which is usually C:\Windows or C:\WINNT.)
SOLUTION
Step 1
For Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 users, before doing any scans, please make sure you disable System Restore to allow full scanning of your computer.

Scan your computer with your Trend Micro product to delete files detected as TROJ_NODEF.CQ.
