This Trojan arrives on a system as a file dropped by other malware or as a file downloaded unknowingly by users when visiting malicious sites.

Installation

This Trojan drops the following files:

  • %Malware Path%\{Blank hidden folder}\desktop.ini
  • %Malware Path%\{Blank hidden folder}\IndexerVolumeGuid
  • %Malware Path%\AHMED (16GB).lnk -> shortcut that executes the dropped DLL
  • %Malware Path%\System Volume Information\IndexerVolumeGuid
  • %Malware Path%\System Volume Information\WPSettings.dat

It drops and executes the following files:

  • %Malware Path%\{Blank hidden folder}\{Random DLL name}.1 -> detected as WORM_GAMARUE.YYJC

It creates the following folders:

  • %Malware Path%\{Blank hidden folder}
  • %Malware Path%\System Volume Information

Remove malware/grayware files dropped/downloaded by TROJ_LODBAK.BA. (Note: Please skip this step if the threats listed below have already been removed.)

Scan your computer with your Trend Micro product to delete files detected as TROJ_LODBAK.BA. If the detected files have already been cleaned, deleted, or quarantined by your Trend Micro product, no further step is required. You may opt to simply delete the quarantined files.
