This Trojan arrives on a system as a file dropped by other malware or as a file downloaded unknowingly by users when visiting malicious sites.

It bears the file icons of certain applications to avoid easy detection and consequent removal. It uses a file name similar to a legitimate file to pass as a legitimate file.

Installation

This Trojan bears the file icons of the following applications:

  • Java

It uses a file name similar to a legitimate file to pass as a legitimate file.

NOTES:

This Trojan may be used by a malicious user in performing its malicious routines. It may drop copy of itself in the affected machine. However, this Trojan may require other components to execute properly.

Step 1

For Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 users, before doing any scans, please make sure you disable System Restore to allow full scanning of your computer.

Step 2

Scan your computer with your Trend Micro product to delete files detected as TROJ_AHENTE.AE. If the detected files have already been cleaned, deleted, or quarantined by your Trend Micro product, no further step is required. You may opt to simply delete the quarantined files.
