This Trojan does the following:
- Exploits an unspecified vulnerability in the Java Runtime Environment through deserialization of RMIConnectionImpl objects, allowing attackers to call system-level Java functions via the ClassLoader of a constructor that is being deserialized. More information on this vulnerability are found in this page:
- Downloads a possibly malicious file from the domain where it is hosted after a successful exploitation of the vulnerability
- Executes the downloaded file. As a result, malicious routines of the downloaded file are exhibited on the affected system.
SOLUTION
Step 1
For Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 users, before doing any scans, please make sure you disable System Restore to allow full scanning of your computer.
Step 2
Scan your computer with your Trend Micro product to delete files detected as JAVA_DLOADR.DM. If the detected files have already been cleaned, deleted, or quarantined by your Trend Micro product, no further step is required. You may opt to simply delete the quarantined files. Step 3
