This Trojan requires its main component to successfully perform its intended routine.
It does the following:
- It uses JAVAW.EXE to run .JAR files.
NOTES:
Based on analysis of the codes, it has the following capabilities:
- It attempts to connect to a URL to download a possibly malicious file, name it as WINDOWS_SECURITY_CENTER.EXE and save it in C:\Temp folder.
- It then executes the downloaded file. As a result, the malicious routines of the downloaded file are exhibited on the affected system.
SOLUTION
Step 1
For Windows ME and XP users, before doing any scans, please make sure you disable System Restore to allow full scanning of your computer.
Step 2
Scan your computer with your Trend Micro product to delete files detected as JAVA_DLOAD.SP If the detected files have already been cleaned, deleted, or quarantined by your Trend Micro product, no further step is required.
