This backdoor arrives on a system as a file dropped by other malware or as a file downloaded unknowingly by users when visiting malicious sites.

Backdoor Routine

This backdoor executes the following commands from a remote malicious user:

  • WINCMD - perform remote command shell
  • TASKKILL - terminate a certain process
  • SHUTDOWN - terminate itself
  • SLEEP - sleep for a specified time
  • PUTFILE - download arbitrary file

Information Theft

This backdoor gathers the following data:

  • computer name
  • user name
  • operating system version

NOTES:

It gets the IP address of the following site:

  • {BLOCKED}ra.googlesale.net

It generates a new IP address by switching the numbers of the acquired IP address:

  • Original IP Address = {1st number}.{2nd number}.{3rd number}.{4th number}
  • New IP Address = {2nd number}.{3rd number}.{4th number}.{1st number}

It connects to the following URL to send the gathered information and receive commands from a remote malicious user:

  • {New IP Address}:443

As of this writing, there is no response from the generated new IP address.

Step 1

If the detected files have already been cleaned, deleted, or quarantined by your Trend Micro product, no further step is required. You may opt to simply delete the quarantined files.
