This Backdoor opens the following ports:
- TCP port 53
It connects to the following URL(s) to send and receive commands from a remote malicious user:
- Zgrsl.{BLOCKED}u.com
- {BLOCKED}.{BLOCKED}.133.123
It executes the following commands from a remote malicious user:
- Perform shell commands
- Enumerate drive and files with their respective information
- Overwrite file with data specified by the attacker
- Retrieve contents of a file specified by the attacker
- Execute file
- Get the following system information:
- Computer name
- Username
- CPU type
- CPU speed
- Current process ID
- OS version
- Memory size
- Drive type
- Disk space
Other Details
This Backdoor does the following:
- Once a connection to the servers is established, it sends the following requests:
- GET /s/asp?=p=1
- POST /s/asp?=p=1
- It attempts to access the file IDE21201.VXD, a device driver that directly communicates with the harddisk. It uses the said file to gain information about the user’s harddisk.
- It also retrieves the following information from the affected system:
- Drive information
- Computer Name
- OS information
- Hostname
- Mac Address
SOLUTION
Step 1
For Windows ME and XP users, before doing any scans, please make sure you disable System Restore to allow full scanning of your computer.
Step 3
Scan your computer with your Trend Micro product and note files detected as BKDR_GOLPECO.A
Step 4
Restart in Safe Mode
Step 5
Search and delete the file detected as BKDR_GOLPECO.A
Step 6
Restart in normal mode and scan your computer with your Trend Micro product for files detected as BKDR_GOLPECO.A If the detected files have already been cleaned, deleted, or quarantined by your Trend Micro product, no further step is required.
