(Note: %Temp% is the Windows temporary folder, where it usually is C:\Windows\Temp on all Windows operating system versions.)

It is used to load and execute the following file:

  • %Temp%\adobeacd-update.ps1 - detected as TROJ_POWDLOD.GN
    This is executed using the following command:
    powershell.exe -noexit -ExecutionPolicy -bypass -noprofile -file c:\windows\temp\adobeacd-update.psl,0,true

(Note: %Temp% is the Windows temporary folder, where it usually is C:\Windows\Temp on all Windows operating system versions.)

Step 1

Before doing any scans, Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 users must disable System Restore to allow full scanning of their computers.

Step 2

Remove the malware/grayware file that dropped/downloaded VBS_POWRUN.KG. (Note: Please skip this step if the threat(s) listed below have already been removed.)
