Installation
This backdoor drops the following files:
- [removable drive]\RECYCLER.lnk
Propagation
This backdoor creates the following folders in all removable drives:
- RECYCLER
It drops copies of itself into all the removable drives connected to an affected system.
Backdoor Routine
This backdoor connects to the following URL(s) to send and receive commands from a remote malicious user:
- ng.{BLOCKED}hopperz11.com
- ng.{BLOCKED}etallone.com
- ng.{BLOCKED}loan.com
Other Details
This backdoor connects to the following URL(s) to get the affected system's IP address:
- http://api.wipmania.com
SOLUTION
Step 1
Before doing any scans, Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 users must disable System Restore to allow full scanning of their computers.
Step 2
Scan your computer with your Trend Micro product and note files detected as BKDR_FLODER.SMP
Step 3
Restart in Safe Mode
Step 4
Search and delete this file
- [removable drive]\RECYCLER.lnk
Step 5
Search and delete the file detected as BKDR_FLODER.SMP
Step 6
Search and delete this folder
- RECYCLER
Step 7
Restart in normal mode and scan your computer with your Trend Micro product for files detected as BKDR_FLODER.SMP. If the detected files have already been cleaned, deleted, or quarantined by your Trend Micro product, no further step is required. You may opt to simply delete the quarantined files.
