Arrival Details

This Trojan arrives on a system as a file dropped by other malware or as a file downloaded unknowingly by users when visiting malicious sites.

Installation

This Trojan drops the following files:

  • %Windows%\cer{Random}.tmp
  • %Public%\pointer.com

It adds the following processes:

  • cmd /c del "%Public%\pointer.com" / A / F / Q / S
  • certutil -decodehex "{Malware File Path}\{Malware File Name}.{Malware File Extension}" "%Public%\pointer.com" 3
  • cmd /c PING -n 2 127.0.0.1
  • cmd /c start %Public%\pointer.com
  • cmd /c exit /b 0

Other System Modifications

This Trojan deletes the following files:

  • %Windows%\cer{Random}.tmp

(Note: %Windows% is the Windows folder, where it usually is C:\Windows on all Windows operating system versions.)

Step 1
