This Trojan arrives on a system as a file dropped by other malware or as a file downloaded unknowingly by users when visiting malicious sites. It may be dropped by other malware.

It executes the downloaded files. As a result, malicious routines of the downloaded files are exhibited on the affected system.

This Trojan arrives on a system as a file dropped by other malware or as a file downloaded unknowingly by users when visiting malicious sites.

It may be dropped by the following malware:

  • BKDR_QAKBOT
  • WORM_QAKBOT

This Trojan accesses the following websites to download files:

  • http://{BLOCKED}iakfuuasd.net/4
  • http://{BLOCKED}carusled.org/4
  • http://{BLOCKED}asudskfoe.org/4
  • http://{BLOCKED}uytdk.info/4
  • http://{BLOCKED}kiev.ua/4
  • http://{BLOCKED}vtkn.in.ua/4
  • http://{BLOCKED}mausj.org/4
  • http://{BLOCKED}eavmauytdk.info/4
  • http://{BLOCKED}nz.net/4

It saves the files it downloads using the following names:

  • %Temp%\{script name}.tmp

(Note: %Temp% is the Windows Temporary folder, which is usually C:\Windows\Temp.)

It then executes the downloaded files. As a result, malicious routines of the downloaded files are exhibited on the affected system.

Minimum Scan Engine:

Step 1

Before doing any scans, Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 users must disable System Restore to allow full scanning of their computers.

Step 2

Remove the malware/grayware file dropped/downloaded by JS_QAKBOT.GR

    BKDR_QAKBOT
    WORM_QAKBOT

Search and delete this file
