NOTES:
TROJ_PEYKE.B may arrive as dropped files of another malware.
It may arrive with the following component files all detected as TROJ_PEYKE.B:
- %System%\riched20.dll
- %System%\dwmapi.dll
- %System%\sreiuchp.dll
Please note that legitimate Microsoft files named %System%\dwmapi.dll and %System%\riched20.dll exists. These legitimate files are replaced by the malware. The modified files then loads %System%\sreiuchp.dll everytime the legitimate library files are called by the system.
%System%\sreiuchp.dll is responsible for logging keystrokes. It hooks the keyboard by injecting into EXPLORER.EXE.
It creates the following directory:
- %User Profile%\Local Settings\Microsoft
- %User Profile%\Local Settings\Microsoft\Temp
It creates the following file where it uses for its keylogging routines:
- %User Profile%\Local Settings\Microsoft\Temp\tswpodkx.mui
Another component file may be responsible for sending the stolen information to remote site(s).

Step 1
For Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 users, before doing any scans, please make sure you disable System Restore to allow full scanning of your computer.
Step 2
Identify and delete files detected as TROJ_PEYKE.B using either the Startup Disk or Recovery Console
Step 3
Search and delete this folder
Step 4
Restore this file from backup only Microsoft-related files will be restored. If this malware/grayware also deleted files related to programs that are not from Microsoft, please reinstall those programs on you computer again. %System%\riched20.dll
Step 5
Scan your computer with your Trend Micro product to delete files detected as TROJ_PEYKE.B. If the detected files have already been cleaned, deleted, or quarantined by your Trend Micro product, no further step is required. You may opt to simply delete the quarantined files.
