NOTES:
Once this Trojan successfully exploits the said vulnerability, it attempts to drop and execute the following malicious file:
- %User Temp%\dw20.EXE - detected as BKDR_INJECT.PRM
It then terminates the legitimate MS Word process WINDWORD.EXE execuate a new instance of WINWORD.EXE, to trick users into thinking that it is a normal document.

Step 1
Before doing any scans, Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 users must disable System Restore to allow full scanning of their computers.
Step 2
Remove grayware/spyware files dropped/downloaded by TROJ_ARTIEF.PRM
- BKDR_INJECT.PRM
Step 3
Scan your computer with your Trend Micro product to delete files detected as TROJ_ARTIEF.PRM. If the detected files have already been cleaned, deleted, or quarantined by your Trend Micro product, no further step is required. You may opt to simply delete the quarantined files.
