OVERVIEW
Propagates via removable drives
This worm arrives on a system as a file dropped by other malware or as a file downloaded unknowingly by users when visiting malicious sites.
It drops an AUTORUN.INF file to automatically execute the copies it drops when a user accesses the drives of an affected system.
It executes the dropped file(s). As a result, malicious routines of the dropped files are exhibited on the affected system.
It steals email account information.

This worm arrives on a system as a file dropped by other malware or as a file downloaded unknowingly by users when visiting malicious sites.
Autostart Technique
This worm adds the following registry entries to enable its automatic execution at every system startup:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\
Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
sisis = "%System%\sisis.exe"

This worm creates the following registry entry(ies) to bypass Windows Firewall:

Propagation
This worm drops the following copy(ies) of itself in all removable drives:
- autorun.exe
It drops an AUTORUN.INF file to automatically execute the copies it drops when a user accesses the drives of an affected system.
The said .INF file contains the following strings:

Dropping Routine
This worm drops the following files:
- %System%\sisis.exe - detected as TROJ_LDPINCH.SME
(Note: %System% is the Windows system folder, which is usually C:\Windows\System on Windows 98 and ME, C:\WINNT\System32 on Windows NT and 2000, or C:\Windows\System32 on Windows XP and Server 2003.)
It executes the dropped file(s). As a result, malicious routines of the dropped files are exhibited on the affected system.
Information Theft
This worm steals email account information.
Stolen Information
This worm sends the gathered information via HTTP POST to the following URL:
- http://{BLOCKED}10.78/pinch/gate.php

- User ID
- Password

- Searches for the file {folder location}\Qualcomm\Eudora\Eudora.ini and collects the following data:

- Searches for the file {folder location}\Qualcomm\Eudora\Eudora.ini and collects the following data:

Step 1
For Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 users, before doing any scans, please make sure you disable System Restore to allow full scanning of your computer.
Step 2
Remove malware files dropped/downloaded by WORM_LDPINCH.SS
- TROJ_LDPINCH.SME
Step 3
Restart in Safe Mode
Step 4
Delete this registry value
