This Trojan arrives on a system as a file dropped by other malware or as a file downloaded unknowingly by users when visiting malicious sites.

This Trojan requires the existence of the following files to properly run:

  • %Temp%\qGZEb.b64

(Note: %Temp% is the Windows temporary folder, where it usually is C:\Windows\Temp on all Windows operating system versions.)

It does the following:

  • It opens and decrypts the following file:
    • %Temp%\qGZEb.b64 - detected as TROJ_SWRORT.TBU
  • It saves the decrypted binary as follows:
    • %Temp%\WuEYG.exe - detected as TROJ_SWRORT.TBU
  • It then executes %Temp%\WuEYG.exe

(Note: %Temp% is the Windows temporary folder, where it usually is C:\Windows\Temp on all Windows operating system versions.)

Remove the malware/grayware file dropped/downloaded by VBS_SWRORT.SZT. (Note: Please skip this step if the threat(s) listed below have already been removed.)
