This spyware arrives on a system as a file dropped by other malware or as a file downloaded unknowingly by users when visiting malicious sites.
Installation
This spyware drops the following files:
- {Malware Path}\data\config.ini
It terminates itself if it finds the following processes in the affected system's memory:
- 360sd.exe
- 360Tray.exe
- 360Safe.exe
Other Details
This spyware exports functions used by other malware.
It connects to the following possibly malicious URL:
- {BLOCKED}.{BLOCKED}.168.222
NOTES:
This spyware loads the file %System%\sysapp{random}.dll.
SOLUTION
Step 1
Before doing any scans, Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 users must disable System Restore to allow full scanning of their computers.
Step 2
Scan your computer with your Trend Micro product and note files detected as TSPY_ONLING.SMC
Step 3
Restart in Safe Mode
Step 4
Search and delete the file detected as TSPY_ONLING.SMC
Step 5
Search and delete these files
- %System%\sysapp{random}.dll
- {Malware Path}\data\config.ini
Step 6
Restart in normal mode and scan your computer with your Trend Micro product for files detected as TSPY_ONLING.SMC. If the detected files have already been cleaned, deleted, or quarantined by your Trend Micro product, no further step is required. You may opt to simply delete the quarantined files.
