Arrival Details

This Trojan arrives on a system as a file dropped by other malware or as a file downloaded unknowingly by users when visiting malicious sites.

Installation

This Trojan drops the following copies of itself into the affected system:

  • %Windows%\Installer\{6C0C17D1-E841-FBA1-82BC-DEC45D6A2C0A}\syshost.exe

(Note: %Windows% is the Windows folder, which is usually C:\Windows.)

It creates the following folders:

  • %Windows%\Installer\{6C0C17D1-E841-FBA1-82BC-DEC45D6A2C0A}

Autostart Technique

This Trojan adds the following registry entries to enable its automatic execution at every system startup:

syshost32 = "%Windows%\Installer\{6C0C17D1-E841-FBA1-82BC-DEC45D6A2C0A}\syshost.exe"

Other System Modifications

This Trojan deletes the following files:

  • %Windows%\Installer\{6C0C17D1-E841-FBA1-82BC-DEC45D6A2C0A}\syshost.exe:Zone.Identifier
