NOTES:

It displays a fraudulent webpage enttitled "Tax System Update" to trick users into sending the following information to the malicious user:

  • Tax file number
  • Full name
  • Date of birth
  • Home address
  • Email address
  • Mobile phone number
  • Type of identification to be used (driver's license, passport, Medicare card)
  • Credit card credentials and other sensitive information

Step 1

Before doing any scans, Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 users must disable System Restore to allow full scanning of their computers.
