This Trojan is a component of other malware.

NOTES:

This Trojan is a command line program, which is capable of acquiring the security privileges of a specific process by inputting the Process ID.

These security privileges may be used by other malwares to successfully run in conditions where the specific privileges are required.

It displays the following messages when this Trojan has failed to obtain the privileges:

  • Fail to get token!
  • Please check the pid!!!

It displays the following message when this Trojan has successfully obtained the security privileges:

  • Success!!!

Step 1

For Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 users, before doing any scans, please make sure you disable System Restore to allow full scanning of your computer.

Step 2

Scan your computer with your Trend Micro product and note files detected as TROJ_KRYPTIK.DMS

Step 3

Terminate the malware/grayware/spyware process:

  • For Windows 98 and ME users, Windows Task Manager may not display all running processes. In this case, please use a third-party process viewer, preferably Process Explorer, to terminate the malware/grayware/spyware file. You may download the said tool here.
  • If the detected file is displayed in either Windows Task Manager or Process Explorer but you cannot delete it, restart your computer in safe mode. To do this, refer to this link for the complete steps.
  • If the detected file is not displayed in either Windows Task Manager or Process Explorer, continue doing the next steps.
