Arrival Details
This Worm arrives on a system as a file dropped by other malware or as a file downloaded unknowingly by users when visiting malicious sites.
It arrives as a component bundled with malware/grayware packages.
Installation
This Worm adds the following folders:
- %Windows%\SpeechsTracing
- %Windows%\SpeechsTracing\Microsoft
(Note: %Windows% is the Windows folder, where it usually is C:\Windows on all Windows operating system versions.)
It drops the following files:
- %Windows%\SpeechsTracing\Crypt - ZIP file containing files required for Eternalblue-DoublePulsar exploit, deleted afterwards.
(Note: %Windows% is the Windows folder, where it usually is C:\Windows on all Windows operating system versions.)
It adds the following mutexes to ensure that only one of its copies runs at any one time:
- {F5175396-40C2-0218-278D6EE}
Propagation
This Worm takes advantage of the following software vulnerabilities to propagate across networks:
Other Details
This Worm connects to the following website to send and receive information:
- http://ta{BLOCKED}.{BLOCKED}endecr.com/tasks
- http://er{BLOCKED}.{BLOCKED}endecr.com:8080/log
- http://sc{BLOCKED}.{BLOCKED}endecr.com/status
It requires the following additional components to properly run:
- %System%\EnrollCertXaml.dll - contains files required for Eternalblue-Doublepulsar exploit
(Note: %System% is the Windows system folder, where it usually is C:\Windows\System32 on all Windows operating system versions.)
It does the following:
- It scans hosts on the Local Area Network and checks if the port 445 is available.
It will then attempt to exploit MS17-010 vulnerability to inject and execute one of the following files on the remote host:- %Windows%\SpeechsTracing\Microsoft\x86.dll - for 32-bit OS, detected as TROJ_WMINE.B
- %Windows%\SpeechsTracing\Microsoft\x64.dll - for 64-bit OS, detected as TROJ64_WMINE.B
- It drops the following files, extracted from the ZIP file:

- %Windows%\SpeechsTracing\Microsoft\adfw.dll
- %Windows%\SpeechsTracing\Microsoft\cnli-0.dll
