Download Routine
This Trojan accesses the following websites to download files:
- http://{BLOCKED}lfoodandwine.com/fem0709.dat
It saves the files it downloads using the following names:
- {malware path}\moth.dat - it will be deleted after the data it contains are read and converted.
- {malware path}\mofutsu.dat -the converted binary data of moth.dat
As of this writing, the said sites are inaccessible.

This Trojan does not have any information-stealing capability.
NOTES:
It opens a hidden Internet Explorer window and accesses the following URL:
- http://{BLOCKED}lfoodandwine.com/img/index.html
It executes the following file:
- {malware path}\gingr.vbe
It will wait for 10 seconds after execution of gingr.vbe then deletes the following file:
- {malware path}\mofutsu.dat
It does not have rootkit capabilities.

Step 1
Before doing any scans, Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 users must disable System Restore to allow full scanning of their computers.
Step 2
Note that not all files, folders, and registry keys and entries are installed on your computer during this malware's/spyware's/grayware's execution. This may be due to incomplete installation or other operating system conditions. If you do not find the same files/folders/registry information, please proceed to the next step.
Step 3
Search and delete these files
- {malware path}\moth.dat
- {malware path}\mofutsu.dat
Step 4
Scan your computer with your Trend Micro product to delete files detected as VBS_FAKENIT.PAB. If the detected files have already been cleaned, deleted, or quarantined by your Trend Micro product, no further step is required. You may opt to simply delete the quarantined files.
