Installation

This backdoor drops the following files:

  • %Windows%\waccess{random 4 digit number}.tmp
  • %Windows%\Microsoft Help\Secure\{Username}.tc.dat
  • %Windows%\Microsoft Help\Secure\{Username}.tp.dat
  • %Windows%\Microsoft Help\Secure\vhsdata.dat
  • %Windows%\Microsoft Help\Secure\vhdata.sys

(Note: %Windows% is the Windows folder, where it usually is C:\Windows on all Windows operating system versions.)

It creates the following folders:

  • %Windows%\Microsoft Help

Autostart Technique

This backdoor adds the following registry entries to enable its automatic execution at every system startup:

This backdoor executes the following commands from a remote malicious user:

  • Enumerate opened windows and running processes
  • Get username and computer details
  • Log keystrokes
  • Manipulation of Files
  • Propagate via removable drives
  • Provide information of drives, folders and files
  • Provide information of registry key and entries
  • Restart or end itself
  • Retrieve Internet Explorer's browsing history and saved passwords
  • Screen captures
  • Setup a remote desktop connection
  • Start or end processes
  • Uninstall itself
  • Upload files
  • Use shell commands remotely
  • View the memory

It connects to the following URL(s) to send and receive commands from a remote malicious user:
