This Trojan arrives as an attachment to email messages spammed by other malware/grayware/spyware or malicious users.
It arrives on a system as a file dropped by other malware or as a file downloaded unknowingly by users when visiting malicious sites.

Based on analysis of the codes, it has the following capabilities:
- Exploits an unknown vulnerability in Ichitaro, a popular word processing application in Japan that uses a .JTD extension name, wherein it executes a shell code that lets it drop and execute the following file:
- %usertemp%\TarOOFCV.exe – to be detected as TROJ_DROPPER.QVA
- Routines of the dropped file detected as TROJ_DROPPER.QVA are also exhibited on the affected system.

Step 1
For Windows ME and XP users, before doing any scans, please make sure you disable System Restore to allow full scanning of your computer.

Scan your computer with your Trend Micro product to delete files detected as TROJ_TARODRP.SM If the detected files have already been cleaned, deleted, or quarantined by your Trend Micro product, no further step is required.
