It disables Task Manager, Registry Editor, and Folder Options.

Installation

This Worm drops the following files:

  • %AppDataLocal%\BronNetDomList.bat
  • %User Profile%\Pictures\about.Brontok.A.html

(Note: %System Root% is the Windows root folder, where it usually is C:\ on all Windows operating system versions.. %AppDataLocal% is the Local Application Data folder, which is usually C:\Documents and Settings\{user name}\Local Settings\Application Data on Windows 2000, XP, and Server 2003, or C:\Users\{user name}\AppData\Local on Windows Vista, 7, and 8.. %User Profile% is the current user's profile folder, which is usually C:\Documents and Settings\{user name} on Windows 2000, XP, and Server 2003, or C:\Users\{user name} on Windows Vista, 7, and 8.)

It drops and executes the following files:

  • %AppDataLocal%\inetinfo.exe
  • %AppDataLocal%\winlogon.exe
  • %AppDataLocal%\smss.exe
  • %AppDataLocal%\services.exe
  • %AppDataLocal%\lsass.exe
  • %AppDataLocal%\csrss.exe
