Installation
This worm drops the following copies of itself into the affected system:
- %System%\umdmgr.exe
(Note: %System% is the Windows system folder, which is usually C:\Windows\System32.)
Autostart Technique
This worm adds the following registry entries to enable its automatic execution at every system startup:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\
Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
{malware file name} = "%System%\umdmgr.exe"
Download Routine
This worm connects to the following URL(s) to download its configuration file:
- http://umx1.{BLOCKED}dult.biz/umxx1.gif
It saves the files it downloads using the following names:
- %User Temp%\umdmgr.ini
(Note: %User Temp% is the current user's Temp folder, which is usually C:\Documents and Settings\{user name}\Local Settings\Temp on Windows 2000, XP, and Server 2003, or C:\Users\{user name}\AppData\Local\Temp on Windows Vista and 7.)
Other Details
This worm does the following:
- It decrypts the downloaded configuration file and saves the decrypted configuration file in %User Temp%\umdmgr.ini_dec. It then connects to the websites specified in the configuration file.

Step 1
Before doing any scans, Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 users must disable System Restore to allow full scanning of their computers.

Delete this registry value
