Installation
This worm drops the following copies of itself into the affected system:
- %System%\phqghu.exe
(Note: %System% is the Windows system folder, which is usually C:\Windows\System on Windows 98 and ME, C:\WINNT\System32 on Windows NT and 2000, or C:\Windows\System32 on Windows XP and Server 2003.)
Autostart Technique
This worm adds the following registry entries to enable its automatic execution at every system startup:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\
Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\
Explorer\Run
phqghu.exe = "%System%\phqghu.exe"
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\
Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
phqghu.exe = "%System%\phqghu.exe"
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\

phqghu.exe = "%System%\phqghu.exe"
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\
Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
phqghu.exe = "%System%\phqghu.exe"
Propagation
This worm drops copies of itself into all the removable drives connected to an affected system.
It drops an AUTORUN.INF file to automatically execute the copies it drops when a user accesses the drives of an affected system.
The said .INF file contains the following strings:
[Autorun]
ShellExecute=usbrun.exe
Action=Open folder to view files
Shell\Open\Command=usbrun.exe
Shell\Explore\Command=usbrun.exe
Backdoor Routine
This worm listens on the following port(s):
- TCP 3545
It connects to the following websites to send and receive information:
- {BLOCKED}.{BLOCKED}.254.192
Other Details
This worm deletes itself after execution.
NOTES:
This worm drops .LNK files that reference a copy of itself in removable drives. These dropped files use the names of the folders and files located on the said drive for their filenames. It then hides the original folders and files to further fool the users.
