Arrival Details
This Trojan arrives on a system as a file dropped by other malware or as a file downloaded unknowingly by users when visiting malicious sites.
Installation
This Trojan drops the following copies of itself into the affected system:
- %User Profile%\Local Settings\gethttps.exe
(Note: %User Profile% is the current user's profile folder, which is usually C:\Documents and Settings\{user name} on Windows 2000, XP, and Server 2003, or C:\Users\{user name} on Windows Vista and 7.)
It injects codes into the following process(es):
- firefox.exe
- iexplore.exe
- outlook.exe
Autostart Technique
This Trojan adds the following registry entries to enable its automatic execution at every system startup:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\
Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
gethttps = "%User Profile%\Local Settings\gethttps.exe -installkys"

This Trojan does not have any backdoor routine.
Dropping Routine
This Trojan drops the following files:
- %User Profile%\Local Settings\gethttps.dll - detected as BKDR_WISP.AF

Step 1
For Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 users, before doing any scans, please make sure you disable System Restore to allow full scanning of your computer.
Step 2
Remove malware/grayware files dropped/downloaded by TROJ_WISP.AE
- BKDR_WISP.AF
Step 3
Restart in Safe Mode
Step 4
Delete this registry value
