This Trojan arrives on a system as a file dropped by other malware or as a file downloaded unknowingly by users when visiting malicious sites.
Installation
This Trojan drops the following copies of itself into the affected system:
- %System Root%\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\{random name}\{random name}.exe
(Note: %System Root% is the root folder, which is usually C:\. It is also where the operating system is located.)
It drops the following component file(s):
- %System Root%\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\{random name}\{random name}
- %System Root%\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\{random name}\{random name}.ico
- %System Root%\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Start Menu\Programs\System Progressive Protection\System Progressive Protection.lnk
- %System Root%\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\System Progressive Protection.lnk

It creates the following folders:

This Trojan adds the following registry entries to enable its automatic execution at every system startup:

Step 1
For Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 users, before doing any scans, please make sure you disable System Restore to allow full scanning of your computer.
Step 2
Scan your computer with your Trend Micro product and note files detected as TROJ_FAKEAV.JQJ
Step 3
Restart in Safe Mode
Step 4
Delete this registry value
