Other Details

This Ransomware does the following:

  • Must be run as administrator to proceed to its encryption routine.
  • Encrypts files found in the following folder in Drive C:
    • %Program Files%
    • %Desktop%\
    • %User Profile%\Documents
    • %User Profile%\Pictures
  • Encrypts files in all drives except C:\

(Note: %User Profile% is the current user's profile folder, which is usually C:\Documents and Settings\{user name} on Windows 2000, XP, and Server 2003, or C:\Users\{user name} on Windows Vista and 7.)

Ransomware Routine

This Ransomware encrypts files with the following extensions:

  • .csv
  • .dll
  • .doc
  • .docx
  • .exe
  • .jpeg
  • .jpg
  • .pdf
  • .php
  • .rar
  • .sql
  • .txt
  • .zip

It appends the following extension to the file name of the encrypted files:

  • .mrcyber
